CURRICULUM
The California State Frameworks and the
Diocese of Oakland guidelines
are
followed in all curriculum and textbook decisions at Saint Patrick School.
Our K-8 technology curriculum is based on the belief that curriculum comes first
and technology is the tool used to demonstrate knowledge of curriculum areas and
to access needed information. Technology is integrated across the curriculum and
not thought of as a separate subject. The benchmarks and projects in the K-8
technology curriculum are based on the ISTE Standards and our State Frameworks.
Teachers incorporate technology into daily lesson plans and incorporate
technology into special units.
All students, administrative staff, teaching staff, and classified staff at
Saint Patrick School have equal access to current technology to support their
educational goals and needs. This includes an iMac computer lab and a wireless
mobile iBook lab for the middle school grades.
Each
teacher has an MacBook laptop. Each classroom has a projector
used for presentations. In addition, teachers and students make extensive use of
our digital cameras, video equipment and scanners for school projects.
Each class has a scheduled lab time and may also sign up to use the lab for
additional periods.
All computers are networked and have high speed access to the Internet. A
technology coordinator/network administrator maintains the network, hardware
and software.
By the time students leave Saint Patrick School in the eighth grade, they have
been taught how to use many software applications, how to access and evaluate
information from web sites, create their own web pages, and make presentations
using technology. They are prepared to meet society's ever changing technology
demands with skill and confidence.
